"MOM, LOOK THERE'S A PARROT IN THE CAGE !"
I remember my 6 year old self getting excited after I saw a talking parrot in captivity being sold at the Charak Mela (Charak fair) at my grandparent's village. We were visiting my grandparents during the festival. It was a welcome break from the regular routine of my parents. But for me, it was just another holiday. And the exciting thing about holidays to me at that time was I didn't have to go to school. The 15 year old memory came rushing back to me when our Honorable PM announced that the country will be in lockdown due to the global pandemic of Coronavirus. Well, the lockdown is cool for me. Why shouldn't it be ? I am an introvert after all. And what's more exciting than spending time with yourself, away from all the shenanigans of society ? I know you are judging me by now. Maybe you are thinking it's selfish of me to not think about the people suffering due to Coronavirus, the doctors, the nurses, the police, the daily labourers who are facing hard times to provide food to themselves as well as their family. But honestly, I don't care. Couldn't care less. My parents are doctors and I have to watch them leave for their duties daily. Sometimes even spending the nights at the hospital. I know it's tough. I just don't care. While I captured the above photo, I saw a pigeon flew by. That made me realise that how much of our freedom we take for granted. I am sure a lot of people have reached the limit of being bored. Spending your days within the same 4 walls of a concrete buliding sucks. Even for an introvert it sucks. And now I realise how the caged birds and animals feel. Maybe this realisation will change my perspective somehow. And I hope that you realise the same thing and when this is all over, you will stop taking your freedom for granted. Whatever thing you have been pushing away, you shouldn't anymore. After the lockdown's over, do it. Go for an adventure, go for a swim, learn that thing you always wanted to, do whatever crazy thing you always wanted to do. And STOP taking your freedom for granted.
Photo description: The blurred background consisting of the bright blue sky, the tree with green leaves depicts the bright and colourful life that awaits outside of our locked rooms. The blur symbolises that the aaforementioned 'outside' life is not much accessable to us at present due to the lockdown. The bars and net in focus symbolises the reality that we have today: the Lockdown.
